Bournemouth University ก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 1970 ตั้งอยู่ ณ เมืองบอร์นมัธ (Bournemouth) ซึ่งเป็นเมืองตากอากาศขนาดใหญ่บนชายฝั่งทางใต้ของอังกฤษ ตั้งอยู่ห่างจากลอนดอนลงไปทางตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ประมาณ 105 ไมล์และใช้เวลาเดินทางน้อยกว่า 2 ชั๋วโมงจากลอนดอนโดยรถไฟ บอร์นมัธ ได้ชื่อว่ามีชายหาดที่สวยที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในประเทศอังกฤษโดยมีความยาวกว่า 22 กิโลเมตร ถือได้ว่าเป็นเมืองตากอากาศที่ขึ้นชื่อแห่งหนึ่งในยุโรป มีสภาพอากาศที่ดี ในปีหนึ่งจะมีนักท่องเที่ยวเดินทางมาเมืองนี้ไม่ต่ำกว่าปีละ 5ล้านคน สถานที่ท่องเที่ยวสำคัญคือ Bournemouth Oceanarium หรือเมืองใต้ทะเล นอกจากหาดทรายสีทองยาว และน้ำทะเลส่องประกายระยิบระยับ บอร์นมัธ ยังมีร้านค้า ภัตตาคาร และที่พักสำหรับวันหยุดให้เลือกมากมาย

โปรแกรม Pre-Master ที่ Bournemouth University เป็นหลักสูตรสำหรับนักศึกษาต่างชาติรวมถึงนักศึกษาไทยที่ต้องการเรียนต่อระดับปริญญาโทที่ประเทศอังกฤษ แต่ได้เกรดเฉลี่ยไม่ตรงตามหลักเกณฑ์การรับสมัครที่ทางมหาวิทยาลัยกำหนด ซึ่ง Pre-Master Programme จะเหมาะสำหรับนักศึกษาที่ต้องการปรับพื้นฐานทางด้านวิชาการและภาษาอังกฤษ และยังเหมาะสำหรับนักศึกษาที่ต้องการจะเปลี่ยนสายการเรียนอีกด้วย
